Great site, Paula!  I will look forward to seeing what other interesting cities you add.  One of my favorite restaurants in NY is sort of a diamond in the rough:  La Petite Auberge, a small family-owned French restaurant that has been there for 20+ years.  Located on  Lexington at 28th (right in the middle of a group of Indian restaurants), it is very unpretentious,  but don't be fooled.  It has has wonderful food and amazing service.  The staff still makes a fuss over me, even though my days of being a 'regular' have dwindled to going maybe 2 times a year.  Souffles have not been on the menu, but they serve them  - just ask when you order dinner.  Enjoy!
